Health Counseling on Anemia Prevention for Pregnant Women Through The “BUCEMIA” Program (BUMIL CEGAH ANEMIA)

Abstract
Background: Anemia during pregnancy results in an increased risk of complications for both the mother and the fetus, therefore it is necessary to make prevention efforts as early as possible starting from providing an understanding of anemia. One effort that can be made is by providing health promotion related to the prevention of anemia in pregnancy.
Aims: To increase understanding of prevention efforts by reducing the risk of anemia in pregnancy among pregnant women.
Methods: Community service method, carried out by 1 lecturer and 12 students from the Nursing Professional Education study program at Alma Ata University, Yogyakarta, and assisted by midwives and nurses from Sedayu I Community Health Center as the person in charge of health in the village and local cadre mothers. The activity was carried out in Padukuhan Sengon Karang, Sedayu sub-district, Bantul district, involving 2 pregnant women who lived in home visits. Evaluation of community service activities takes the form of giving a post-test with 5 questions after the delivery of the material at the end of the activity.
Results: There was an increase in participants' knowledge about understanding anemia in pregnancy through questions before and after health counseling. Pregnant women were very enthusiastic in participating in the activities, and appeared to provide several other questions about anemia in pregnancy to the counselor.
Conclucion: Promotional efforts that are delivered clearly and on target will provide knowledge about the topic of anemia and its prevention. This shows that there are positive results that can be obtained from health promotion efforts in increasing the knowledge of pregnant women in efforts to prevent pregnancy anemia.
